The School of Continuing and Distance Education organized a 1 day seminar on PHD supervision. The seminar mainly targeted experienced PhD supervisors who have supervised PhD students in the past and who are currently supervising PhD Students. The seminar mainly sought to provide a platform for participants to share experiences as well as listen to presentations by various speakers highlighting the new supervision requirements set by the University of Nairobi as well as share challenges and way forward.
The seminar was officially opened by the College of Education and External Studies principal Prof. Jumba who said that the seminar was principally organized to ensure all supervisors are well versed with the set requirements and are also well trained to supervise PhD students. He encouraged participants to share their experiences and knowledge in the course of the seminar. The School of Continuing and Distance Education Dean Prof. Harriet Kidombo gave opening remarks stating the objectives of the seminar.
During the seminar a number of topics were covered, with each topic highlighting key expertise required of the supervisors.
The seminar was moderated by Mr. Christopher Mutunga and the College registrar; Mrs. Miriam Manya.
